Welcome to the new site

I'm a computer systems analyst working for a web design company, 4What Interactive, based out of Naples, Florida. We do far more than websites, from Electronic Learning Applications, ELT's to video with our own high-end video studio complete with green screen and hi-def recording equipment. With a full complement of graphic designers, artists, programmers, we take on large clients and small.

The purpose of this site is to test out technologies that I'm familiarizing myself with. I'm also experimenting with various blogging tools like Wordpress

Currently I'm learning how to use the canvas in HTML5. Feel free to view source when checking any of these pages to steal whatever you need. Share with anyone who's interested.

Experimenting with HTML 5 video

One thing that's lacking and is important to me in html5 over flash, is the ability to do transparent video. It's been called "overlays" or "transparent video" or "alpha blending". Basically I want to be able to show a video with "holes" in it, so I can see through to the content below. Here is the path I'm following.

• Several tools are needed to deal with videos themselves.
• Basic mp4 HTML5 video
• Converting video to greyscale on the fly using an offscreen canvas and an onscreen canvas, code stolen from http://html5doctor.com/video-canvas-magic
• Leveraging the previous example to play the video to a clipped area
• Apparently "Note: Video as a source for the canvas drawImage() method is not currently supported on iOS." :(
